From one sentence to the sky · Step 2 of 15
Four things had to be true
For one sentence to be read, four things must already be true. Symmetry. Break. Record. Constraint.
Take two glasses of water. The same water. The same glass. Swap them, and nobody can tell. Nothing is written.
That is Symmetry. Two sides, held against each other. The least there must be for anything to differ.
Now drop one grain of sand into the left glass. Now there is a left and a right. Something differs.
That is the Break. One grain. The smallest difference that still holds.
Once the grain is in, it is in. You cannot undrop it. What has happened cannot unhappen.
That is Record.
The grain is in one glass. Not in both. Not everywhere. A record is somewhere, not everywhere. Reaching anywhere else takes time. In our world that limit has a name: the speed of light.
That is Constraint.
Take any one away, and no record can be written or read. These are not four guesses. They are four things your reading already has.
What it stands on
What it predicts
Nothing yet. But every number further down needs all four.
What would kill it
A fifth thing a record needs. Or one of the four built out of the other three.
